Asani Charles, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and African American, begins her days with the ringing of a school bell. She teaches AP English Language and Literature in Dallas and enjoys teaching writing from a writer’s perspective, further exploring the creative process. Her work has appeared in Sing:Poetry from the Indigenous Americas, Love You Madly; Poetry about Jazz, Yellow Medicine Review, Indian Country Today, and Red Ink Magazine. Her spoken word release is titled Word Songs for Grandmas.
